Egypt-Cyprus Electricity Project: EuroAfrica Unveils Feasibility Study

The EuroAfrica CEO has presented a feasibility study for connecting the Egyptian and Cypriot electricity grids, electricity minister Mohamed Shaker announced on June 26, Al Mal reported.

The initiative is part of the $4 billion EuroAfrica Interconnector project which will link power grids of Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, Egypt Oil & Gas previously reported.

EuroAfrica will install a 1,707 km, 2,000 MW subsea power cable between Egypt and Cyprus.

Shaker stated that he will review the study before the final talks with Cyprus, without giving details regarding when the talks will take place.

EuroAfrica representatives, electricity ministry officials, and the Cypriot Ambassador to Cairo, Charis Moritsis, attended the presentation of the study.
