Energean’s CEO Mathios Rigas visited with top company’s executives the newly arrived FPSO “Energean Power” in Karish field, offshore Israel. The arrival of the vessel is the result of an outstanding level of teamwork necessary to finance, design, construct and finally transport the only FPSO in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In the film below, you can hear Mathios’ thanks to the entire Energean global team that contributed to a project that will help provide both competition to the Israeli gas and energy markets as well as energy security to the broader region, in the East Mediterranean….. and probably Europe.
Energean’s Greek Managinfg Director, Dr. Katerina Sardi pointed out that Europe and Greece should take advantage of external gas supply opportunities such as the framework recently signed in Cairo between the EU, Egypt and Israel. However, Dr. Sardi made it clear that it is vital to continue to explore and develop domestic resources and enhance infrastructure to secure energy supply and gas transportation from LNG terminals throughout continental Europe.
The statement made during her participation in a panel with focus on the Europe’s energy dilemmas as a consequence of the war in Ukraine, organised in the context of IENE – Institute of Energy for South – East Europe‘s 13th South Eastern Europe Energy Dialogue in Thessaloniki.
Dr. Sardi also emphasized that in order to move on with the development of a hydrogen market, the EU needs to provide incentives similar to the ones that were offered for renewable energy in the past, as hydrogen, whether blue or green, at the current level of engineering technology, remains more expensive than gas.
