Tamar Petroleum eyes purchase of part of Noble Energy stake in gas field

Israel’s Tamar Petroleum says it is in talks to buy a 7.5% stake in the Tamar natural gas reserve and the Dalit field from Noble Energy.

The deal, which The Marker financial newspaper says could be worth as much as $900M, would be subject to regulatory approvals.

NBL owns 32.5% of the Tamar field, Israel’s primary supply of natural gas, and must reduce its holding to 25% by 2021 under plans by the country’s government to open the market to competition.
