Increase in Egyptian LNG Exports

Egyptian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports are projected to increase in October compared to the previous month, trading and industry sources told Reuters.

Laura Page, senior LNG analyst at data intelligence firm Kpler, said that Egypt has exported only one cargo in October 2020, while this year Egypt has sent five shipments during the first half of October alone.

Pointing to increased domestic gas availability and improvements in the pricing environment, Page also explained that in the first nine months of 2021, Egyptian LNG exports reached 4.3 million tons, up from 0.45 million tons in the previous year.

Also, Kpler told Reuters that Egypt’s LNG loadings in the first half of October 2021 are projected to be more than in September, expecting three cargoes each from the Damietta and Idku. In September, there was only a total of five cargoes.

“There is a vessel loading at Idku now, and the next one is due on Oct. 16. The last loading was on Oct. 1,” Kpler said.

It should be noted that the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) has announced that Egypt topped the list of the most growing Arab exporters of LNG during Q1 2021.
